Relocation Strategies has helped plan and manage dozens of major large office relocations for national and international companies. These large warehouse relocations or office moves can become complicated quickly. Project managers not only need to keep budget and timelines in mind, but in certain cases, entire company revenue streams could be compromised.

In the case of our work with DHL, Relocation Strategies knew we needed to be organized, focused, and deliberate with our move management plan.

Relocation Plan

One of our first large projects with DHL was a complex relocation involving moving the CVG facility nearly 60 miles away to Wilmington, Ohio where DHL was expanding into a newly designated ILN Hub facility. The massive expansion consisted of 50 separate sub-projects, with Building F regarded as the “hub of the hub.” The 1.2 million sf, two-story facility includes sort facilities, international customs operations, network control center and support offices.

Relocation Strategies Scope of Work

Relocation Strategies was contracted to coordinate the relocation of DHL’s North American Sort Center from Greater Cincinnati Airport to Wilmington, Ohio. This project involved the relocation of all airline and ground-sort operations. Our responsibilities included project definition & coordination, project scheduling/responsibility matrix, hosting weekly team meetings, staff assignment plan, telecommunications coordination, mover coordination, rigging coordination, PC support services, equipment and furnishings plan, creation of support vendor RFP’s, budget tracking, post move support & help desk, communication plan, and on-site coordination, just to name a few.

Vendor Management

Large office relocation projects always involve a lot of moving pieces. However, one of the most extensive parts is vendor selection and management. This requires leadership from the Relocation Strategies team, as these individuals are technically employees for the duration of the relocation project. This particular program had 500+ vendors working with Relocation Strategies project managers.

Project Managers for Relocations of All Sizes

Planning for a project of this size can get complicated very quickly. If you’re grappling with a large office relocation, you don’t have to worry about tackling it solo. Working with relocation experts can completely eliminate any unexpected downtime or loss of revenue and make the moving experience a breeze.

Working with a company like Relocation Strategies means more than surviving your move – it means building a stronger, more effective operation in your new location.
